Call for Applications: UNILAG Students Invited to Design University’s Website

Are you a web-designer and student in the University of Lagos? You are could prove your competence by accepting the management’s invitation to you to design its website.

Screening exercise holds as follow:
Date: Saturday, November 30, 2013
Time: 2:00 p.m
Venue: LAB 003, CITS, Main Campus, Akoka.

Selected students will be involved in the design of the websites of the University and all faculties. Interested and QUALIFIED students should come to the venue of the exercise with their laptops and evidence of previous work/website (s) designed by them.

UNILAG holds 9th Annual Research Conference and Fair

The 9th (Ninth) Annual Research Conference and Fair(an International Conference of the Sciences and Humanities) organized by the University of Lagos will begin on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in the Multipurpose Halls, UNILAG Main Campus. The three-day Conference and Fair, whose main theme is “Researching Health, Infrastructure and Development” has the following Sub-Themes:

1.    Public and Community Health and Development

2.    Communication Technology, Energy and Health

3.    Transportation, Infrastructure and Health

4.    Socio-economic Framework and Health

5.    Public Sector Institutional Reform, Development and Health

6.    Curriculum, Production of Knowledge and Health

7.    Nano-Science and Development

8.    Security Infrastructure and Health

9.    Science and Health

10. Manufacturing and Health

11. Environment and Health

12. Health Delivery Services in National Development

The conference will provide:

Ø  A forum for researchers, practitioners in the industry and policy makers to share ideas, research results and practical experiences on emerging issues especially on health.

Ø  An opportunity for interaction between academics and captains of industry on issues of interest to healthcare, infrastructure and development.

Ø  An avenue to connect researchers with relevant industries that have pressing needs for research outputs to rebrand their products.

Ø  A vehicle to enhance the contributions of industry to health and economic development via creation of employment and increased local content.

The target audience include: academic researchers, research & production teams from industry, policy makers, students, non-governmental organisations, faith organisations, think-tanks and general public.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS: Full Papers (in softcopy) should be submitted to:unilagconf@unilag.edu.ngorunilagconf@gmail.com, not later than August 31, 2013. Accepted Papers for the Conference shall appear in the Book of Proceedings and successfully reviewed papers presented at the Conference shall be published in the newly established UNILAG Journal of Humanities (UJH) and UNILAG Journal of Medicine, Science & Technology (UJMST).

POSTER COMPETITION: Participants who wish to take part in the ‘Best Poster Competition’ should make Poster Presentation in addition to their choice of Oral Presentation (Using A0 sized poster of 33.11” by 46.81”). Awards will be given to winners.

REGISTRATION: Participants are to log on research.unilag.edu.ng, and complete the on-line Registration Form.

The Human Resources Development Centre, University of Lagos invites application from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following programmes:

DIPLOMA IN ENGLISH FOR PROFESSIONALS (DEP)

FOR WHOM: Administrators and Secretaries in Federal and State Civil Service, Personal Assistants, Private, Personal and Confidential Secretaries in Business and Industry, Public Relations and Protocol Officers, Banking and Finance Officers, Legal Practitioners, Accounting Officers, Insurance Officers, Senior Security Officers, Church Ministers and Imams, Islamic Clerics or Preachers, Media Practitioners/Journalists and other Professionals.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: In order to be eligible, an applicant is required to have at least one of the following qualifications:

  • WASSCE/SSCE or equivalent with credits in at least five subjects including English Language passed at not more than two sittings, or
  • GCE (‘O’-Level) or equivalent with credits in at least five subjects including English Language passed at not more than two sittings,
  • A first degree of the University of Lagos or any other comparable institution approved by the Senate;
  • Candidates who are above 30 years of age and who have acquired not less than 5 years experience in relevant fields may be admitted as mature candidates despite some deficiency or the other in the minimum entry requirements described in (a) – (c) above.

COURSE BENEFITS: Each candidate becomes professionally proficient and confident in spoken and written English to achieve higher productivity at work.

EXECUTIVE DIPLOMA IN ENGLISH FOR PROFESSIONALS (EDEP)

FOR WHOM: Executive Administrators and Secretaries in Federal and State Civil Service, Personal Assistants (PA), Private, Personal and Confidential Secretaries in Business and Industry, Members of National and State House of Assemblies, Local Government Chairmen and Women, University Lecturers and Administrators, Public Relations Officers, Protocol Officers and Managers, Executive Politicians, Legal Practitioners, Media Men and Women, Military and Law Enforcement Officers (Police, Customs, NDLEA, Immigration, Prisons etc.),  Accounting Officers, Insurance Officers, Surveyors, Engineers, Estate Managers, Scientists, Church Ministers and Muslim Clerics and other professionals.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: In order to be eligible, an applicant is required to have at least one of the following qualifications:

  • A Diploma in English for Professional’s (DEP) Certificate of the University of Lagos or any other recognized Diploma of other comparable institutions approved by the Senate.
  • A first degree or a second degree of the University of Lagos or any other comparable institution approved by the Senate; or
  • GCE (‘A’ Level) or equivalent with passes in two or three subjects including English Language.
  • GCE (’O’ Level) or equivalent with passes in at least five subjects including English Language.
  • WASSC/SSC or equivalent with credits in at least five subjects including English Language.

COURSE BENEFITS: This is a specially designed programme for Executive leaders in business, industry and other sectors of the economy. The candidate will be enriched such that he or she becomes professionally proficient and confident in spoken and written English while appropriate instructions will be given to enhance participant’s effectiveness at work.

COURSE FEES: N120, 000.00 for tuition fee and N10, 000.00 for Course Materials and Equipment.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE TWO PROGRAMMES

DURATION: TWO SEMESTERS:  NOVEMBER, 2013 – SEPTEMBER, 2014 [SATURDAYS ONLY]

COURSE PRESENTATION: Lectures, Tutorials, Audio and Video Presentations, Film Shows, Case Studies and Project-Writing.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

After payment, return to Human Resources Development Centre Portal: hrdc.unilag.edu.ng, click the Application link; then Application Form Link, login with Payment Reference Number as username and surname (in lowercase letters) as password.

 

  • Log on to the Human Resources Development Centre Portal: hrdc.unilag.edu.ng. Click on the ‘Application Form’ Link.
  • Click the ‘pre-application form’ link; provide the required items of information and submit to obtain a Payment Reference Number (voucher). Print the Payment Reference Number (voucher) and take the voucher to the bank to pay the Five Thousand Naira (N5,  0000.00) Application Form Fee.

  • Make payment at the UNILAG branch of any of the following designated banks: WEMA BANK PLC, ECOBANK PLC, ACCESS BANK PLC and FIRST BANK PLC.
  • Click the ‘Edit Application Form’ link to fill the Application form and upload digital passport-sized photograph (jpeg format). The digital photograph should not be more than 15kb in size and must be in white background. The acceptable dimensions are: width- 235 pixels or 35mm, height- 314 pixels or 40mm. Failure to comply with specified image format may lead to disqualification.
  • Click “SUBMIT FORM” button after filling the form completely; else click “DECLINE” button.

Kindly note that:

  • Applicants are required to print the completed Application Form and submit the print-out along with two (2) sets of credentials at the HRDC Secretariat, UNILAG, Akoka.
  • Payment must be made within five (5) days of obtaining the Payment Reference Number otherwise the pre-application would be DECLINED. Applicants will then be expected to refill the pre-application form to obtain a new Payment Reference Number.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS AND COLLECTION OF ADMISSION LETTERS

Completed application forms should be submitted to Human Resources Development Centre Secretariat not later than Friday, October 11, 2013. Admission letters for shortlisted candidates are to be collected from the same office as Letters of Admission will not be posted to individual candidates.
